Cub Scouting is a program where parents work closely with their sons to advance their skills and have fun. Family is also a very important aspect of Cub Scouts and Pack 124 invites your family to participate in most all of our events. We believe Scouting should be a great experience for your whole family as well as your son. Scouting teaches a boy many things: values of citizenship, compassion, cooperation, courage, faith, health and fitness, honesty, perseverance, positive attitude, resourcefulness, respect, and responsibility. This does not happen automatically, but is the result of time spent with parents and other adult leaders, all volunteering their time and talent to the Cub program. Cub Scouting works when you get involved! All parents in Pack 124 are asked to find a way to help the pack go. Lead a den meeting or just bring a snack to a pack meeting, there is a way to participate that fits your time and talents. Attend a parents planning meeting like I did and see what you can do to help. Children don’t come with an instruction manual, but luckily Cub Scouts has lots of resources to help parents and leaders along. Training is a must for all adults interacting with children other than their own; it is not just for leaders. The minimum level of training we ask for as a Pack is Youth Protection and STAND. These are necessary for the safety of our Cubs, so this training should be as important to you as it is to me. I also suggest that parents take New Leader Essentials training even if you are not leading a den. “Every boy deserves a trained leader” is a slogan that applies to every son and parent. Check out the links on this page for great ways you can benefit from Scouting as a parent and we look forward to seeing your family at our next pack event! Sean Zito Pack 124 – Pack Committee |
